Therapy

Maureen’s client remarked, “I think everyone should be in therapy.’ Full disclosure is that he was in school to become a therapist, so his perspective was unusual. But, he had a point.

What’s it like to have a dedicated listener without interruption? Someone who promises to keep your intention foremost? A professional who will keep sometimes opposing points of view juggling until they return to your hands?

Maureen Nolan’s training in neuro-diverse challenges allows her to specialize in complex conversations without applying a diagnosis.  She has studied brain-based challenges for 13 years and follows some of the prominent researchers, psychologists, and medical doctors who study and publish on brain-based science and brain challenge treatments. As well she is open to non-traditional professionals in mindfulness and alternative perspectives. An average client has attention challenges so that distracting conversations are normal. Her clients interrupt, forget what they are saying, and wander off topic. It is sometimes difficult for them to stay on topic because an interesting thought interrupts the conversational flow. Maureen knows this is a challenge that goes on throughout the day for the client and that it is physically and emotionally uncomfortable. Her clients may miss social and business opportunities due to their physical discomfort and emotional discomfort.

Maureen offers to work on emotional resilience, the ability to create an emotional standard and to be able to return to it under stress. Today’s average person is under an assault of the senses that either looks like ADHD or may be situational ADHD.

Her clients generally have several co-occurring diagnoses. She supports their learning to separate the non-functional behaviors and replace them with functional action.

Maureen works with students, couples, families, and adults whose intention is to be creative, resourceful, and whole. Contact Maureen today at 404-713-0488 or maureen@maureennolan.net for an appointment. She sees clients in the office or using teletherapy.
